Manchester Walking Football September 2018
Manchester Walking Football September 2018
The Manchester Walking Football September 2018 session kicked off the Greater Manchester Walking Football Over 60’s Autumn League in mild but showery weather.
Fifteen teams are competing in this Autumn league, in three divisions of five teams. No longer members of the league are Middleton Legends, Third Space Seniors, who have moved to the over 65’s league, and Vintage Celtic, who were the winners of the inaugural 2017 Spring league.
Replacing the three teams are Man City, Manchester Corinthians and Northgate Strollers from Chester, three times winners of the Cheshire Walking Football League. The three newcomers all started in Division 3.
A total of thirty three goals were scored in this Manchester Walking Football September 2018 session, eleven in Division 1, nine in Division 2 and thirteen in Division 3. Val Mears of Rochdale AFC Strollers currently leads the Golden Boot table with three goals. Dave Coats of Chadderton FC WF is the only keeper not to concede so far.

Division 1 Table September 2018
In Division 1, Chadderton FC WF head the table on eight points with two wins and two draws. Rochdale AFC Strollers are a point behind with two wins, a draw and one loss. Newcomers to Division 1, Wakefield Wanderers, had a good start with a win and three draws, leaving them just two points behind the leaders.
AFC Blackpool Senior Seasiders, without their usual goalkeeper Steve Hyde, drew two and lost two to leave them on two points. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the day was with Nash Amblers, three times league runners up, propping up the table on the same two points as Blackpool but with a goal difference of one goal separating them both. The Blackpool side only managed to score one goal on the day and the Amblers couldn’t find the net at all.

Division 2 Table September 2018
In Division 2, newly promoted Chorley FC CT, formerly Preston North End Senior Whites, head the table on seven points with two wins, one draw and a loss. Also on seven points, with two wins a draw and one loss are Fleetwood Town Flyers and Bury Relics. Chorley FC CT have a goal difference of plus two, Fleetwood Town Flyers have a goal difference of plus one, while Bury Relics have a zero goal difference.
Bolton Wanderers Walkers are on four points with four draws, three 0-0’s and a 1-1. Roach Dynamos failed to score on the day and are bottom of the table on one point with a 0-0 draw and three losses.

Division 3 Table September 2018
With three new sides in Division 3, this is now looking a very strong division. Heading the table on eight points, with two wins and two draws are Manchester Corinthians. Three teams follow on five points, all with one win two draws and one loss.
Second on a goal difference of plus one are the ever improving Maccabi Old Codgers, who are now looking a really strong team. Third are new boys Northgate Strollers on a zero goal difference. Fourth are Man City with a minus one goal difference. Rochdale Striders are bottom of the table with two points from two draws and two losses.
There are no weak teams in this league and in reality there is not much to separate all the fifteen teams competing. It will be interesting to see how it all pans out in future sessions of the Autumn league.

Another good days football and as noted in the report some excellent refereeing. Thanks from all at Wakefield to Paul, Bill and all involved for such a well organised league.
