GMWFL 10th Anniversary Celebration Evening 13th June 2026

As part of the GMWFL 10th annivesary celebrations, we held an evenings event at the Heywood Civic Centre. The evening was hosted by our Chairman, Paul Gardner, who did a brilliant job, as did the Your Trust staff who helped out with the organisation and food.

Present were team players or representatives from Blackpool Senior Seasiders, Bury Relics, Curzon Ashton FC, Preston North End Senior Whites, Rochdale WFC, Tameside Striders, and Wakefield Wanderers. The GMWFL referees who attended were Matt Howells, Ian Liversidge, Steve Nethercott, Stuart Saint, and Kevin Williams.

Also present were Andrew Whitaker, formerly from the Lancashire FA, who was a great help when we formed the league and being sanctioned by the FA, and Barry Woodburn, who dealt with player registration in the leagues earlier days. Thanks to all who attended, making it a successful evening.

Andrew and Barry gave speeches, and also Les Turner from the Blackpool club, and not forgetting the GMWFL Traesurer, Steve Colesby. The evenings raffle raised £260 for the local charity, Springhill Hospice, with donations from clubs, Burnley Clarets, Panthers WFC, Ribble Valley WFC, and individuals, this made a total so far of £450. Thanks to those who donated raffle prizes.
