Week 1 – Over 70s Division 1 & Over 60s Division 1
Over 70s Report

Bury Relics brought their shooting boots to Heywood yesterday netting 5 across two games as they despatched Blackpool Senior Seasiders and Ribble Valley WFC, whilst drawing their remaining couple of games 0-0. They now have a seemingly comfortable distance between themselves and second placed Moston Brook FC, who also avoided the taste of defeat on the day.
With just the four games remaining, it looks increasingly likely that the aforementioned Ribble Valley WFC and Tameside Striders Blues will be competing in the division below next year, no shame in that in a very competitive league.
Over 60s Report

I mentioned the resurgent Manchester Old Boys side last month, and I make no apologies for starting today’s report with them too. A remarkable full house of 5 wins and 15 points were gained to send the MOB to within three points of Wakefield Wanderers going into the final round of games in early December. The Championship seems beyond both them and the Yorkshire club, who notched a very worthy 13 points themselves today, but they have definitely put down a marker for next season.
Bolton Arena’s lead was eaten into by both of the above as they failed to win at all, but three draws has kept the wolves at bay, barring a December Disaster, their two defeats coming courtesy of their pursuers.
Winstanley Walkers gained 8 points with just one defeat on the day. Around the lower reaches of the league, Blackpool Senior Seasiders also returned a scorecard unblemished by defeat, but it won’t be enough to prevent them slipping into the division below along with Ribble Valley WFC and Bolton Arena Blues. Burnley Clarets, Fleetwood Town Flyers and Salcom can all relax and enjoy their final fixtures next month, before their pie and peas reward for a long hard season.
