The Manchester Walking Football 70s April 2019 session was played in fine weather at the Heywood Sports Village. Only eight goals were scored in the twenty one 10 minute fixtures.

Division 1 Table April 2019
March leaders Tameside Striders remain at the top of the table on a goal difference of one. Joint leaders on sixteen points are Bury Relics and Preston North End Senior Whites. The Relics with a two goal difference advantage over the Preston side.
The Striders had six scoreless draws, while Bury had two wins and four draws. Preston had the one win and five scoreless draws.
With only four points separating the top six in this 70’s league, it’s anyone guess who will come out on top in the final session in June.
Man City are on fifteen points, with the one win and five scoreless draws. Two points behind City on thirteen points are Rochdale AFC Strollers, who had a very poor day by their standards. One win, two draws and three losses has to be considered a very poor day for the Rochdale side.
A point behind the Strollers in sixth spot are AFC Blackpool Senior Seasiders who picked up five points to add to their March seven with five scoreless draws and one defeat.
Two of the best keepers in the GMWF League since it’s formation have been Blackpool’s Steve Hyde and Rochdale Stroller’s Ron Blakeley. Normally almost impossible to score against, they both had bad days. Steve conceding three and Ron conceding four.
Mancom, bottom on three points in March, added five points in this session with five scoreless draws and the one loss. They remain in bottom spot, four points adrift of the Seasiders.
The full results can be found HERE.
We realise that with 10 minute games there are going to be lots of scoreless draws. Hopefully this will be remedied in the Autumn league when with additional teams we can form two divisions and have longer game times.
