Manchester Walking Football 70s May 2019
The Manchester Walking Football 70s May 2019 session was played in fine dry weather. Fifteen goals were scored in the twenty one fixtures.
Tameside Striders lost their top of the table spot in April and now lie in fifth place with twenty one points, six behind new leaders Preston North End Senior Whites. It wasn’t a good day for the Striders who had one win, two draws and three defeats. Preston gained eleven points with three wins, two draws and one loss.
Bury Relics remain second after adding ten points to their April sixteen with two wins and four 0-0 draws. Rochdale AFC Strollers lying in fifth spot on thirteen points in April are now third on twenty five points with three wins and three draws. The Strollers, who can never be discounted when the trophies are handed out, may have a new player in June to bolster their defence.
Man City remain in fourth spot after adding eight points to their April fifteen with two wins, two draws and two defeats. AFC Blackpool Senior Seasiders and Mancom remain sixth and seven respectively. The Seasiders gaining seven points from one win, four draws and one loss. Mancom could only gain one point in this May session after one draw and five defeats.
With only two points separating the top three in this countries first ever 70’s walking football league, it could be anyone’s title in June. From feedback, it seems the ‘Golden Oldies’ are thoroughly enjoying their participation in this league. Hopefully we will have two divisions in the Autumn season, starting in September.
